We seem to have acquired a new hen! Well, that’s what we would have thought had we gone away on holiday for a couple of weeks because, since her last moult, our Little Flo has turned into a rather splendid hen.
When we rehomed her in April 2012, she barely had a feather to call her own. She was so bare that you could see her drumsticks!
And she was so small too!
That first long winter as a free-ranging hen must have been very trying as she was missing several feathers from her rear!
But then came the big moult this autumn and a brilliant golden hen emerged looking plump and oh-so-proud!
Well done, Flo! It might have taken 17 months to recover your full complement of feathers but you’re a true beauty now!
