Austen Addicts top Waterstone’s Chart!

  • Posted on October 30, 2011 at 11:12 am

I’m delighted to see A Weekend with Mr Darcy and The Perfect Hero are the bestselling ebooks in Waterstone’s Romance chart this week.  It’s so exciting to see them together and I hope that you all enjoy the third book too.  Mr Darcy Forever has just been released on Kindle as an ebook exclusive.

I can’t tell you how much fun it was to write this trilogy and it means the world to me to see them doing so well especially this week as it is 200 years since Jane Austen’s first book was published.  Happy Birthday, Sense and Sensibility!

Worcestershire Literary Festival

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Worcestershire Literary Festival.  It was especially exciting to travel to Worcester because I studied English Literature at the university there.

The lovely venue had sweeping steps, grand columns and fine portraits – very fitting for my talk about Jane Austen.

The audience was lovely and there were plenty of questions afterwards.

It was then on to Waterstone’s to sign some books.  I was made so welcome by the staff there (thank you, lovely Cara!) and I have never seen so many of my books together before!

My books were in very good company too with Fiona Walker, Lucy Worsley and Dom Joly already having signed copies on display.

It was a lovely day and a real pleasure to meet Glenn and Angela James who run G & A Presents.  If you’re in the Worcester area, take a look at their website.  They have some fabulous events planned including a Gothic & Horror Festival.  Wish I lived closer!

Love in the afternoon

When four romantic novelists get together, there’s always lots to discuss especially when we’ve been booked to talk about our favourite subject: love!  The venue was Waterstone’s in Uxbridge – the first outing for our Let’s Talk About Love group.

Here I am with fellow authors Juliet Archer, Janet Gover and Jean Fullerton.  You can find out more about the group at our website.  We’re booking lots of other events so watch out – we may be visiting a books shop or library near you soon!

Back to the novel now and I’m half way through – chronologically that is.  It’s a nice settling feeling to be in the middle of a new story but I’m equally aware of all the work that is yet to be done.

Tunbridge Wells

Last week, whilst chicken-sitting in Kent, I gave a talk and did a book signing at Waterstone’s in Tunbridge Wells.  It was lovely to meet so many aspiring authors there and they all had plenty of interesting questions for me.

And I absolutely loved the yellow gerbera that lined my signing table (the heroine of Molly’s Millions is a florist and this is her calling card!)  Thank you, Sarah!  A really lovely touch.

The chickens were – once again – a wonderful distraction and I didn’t get quite as much written as I should have.  Here’s me with the gorgeous Bubbles.

No rest for me at the moment as I’m off to Norwich for a signing at Jarrolds.  Norwich is my home town so this is going to be a very special trip for me.

My nice nieces!

Saturday brought another day’s promotion – this time at Waterstones in Uxbridge where they had a lovely display of Molly’s Millions.  I was delighted to be joined by my two lovely nieces, Lucy and Charlotte.  Here they are with me and my mother-in-law.

And today I spent a wonderful afternoon with children’s author, Mary Hoffman.  I met her three beautiful cats and we talked about – well – books!  Get two authors together and it’s usually the same!

Whilst driving around the beautiful Oxfordshire lanes, I saw this sign which reminded me that I’ll be chicken-sitting again this week!
