I’ve just discovered a lovely little showreel for actress, Maren Scheel. It features clips from the film adaptation of my book, Flights of Angels which was published in Germany as Unter deinem Stern and filmed as Himmlischer Besuch für Lisa. The angels look so cute! A fabulous start to 2009 with my first UK publication – Molly’s Millions. It came out in hardback this month and looks gorgeous! Find out more about my fast-paced love chase on the Molly page!
I was also delighted to see my first cover puff on Linda Gillard’s German translation of her lovely book, Star Gazing. It’s been nominated for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award and is a truly beautiful book.
I went to see the fascinating Babylon exhibition at the British Museum with my UK publisher and then had lunch with my editor where we talked about heroes past, present and future! And then, to round the month off, I had a party to celebrate another birthday passing me by as well as my UK publication. My lovely writer friends gathered round and we ate cake, drank champagne and watched highlights from the film adaptation of my novel, Unter deinem Stern.

I got two wonderful deliveries of books this month – first, my UK hardback of Molly’s Millions. It comes out at the end of January and it was a lovely surprise to have my author copies so early. Take a look on the Books page and glory in the pinkness!
I also received the latest edition of my German novel, Flights of Angels (Unter deinem Stern). This one is published by Weltbild and I think it looks gorgeous!
Just started my new romantic comedy, Connie Gordon’s Clan, and it’s proving great fun – a wonderful escape from the wintry weather as I snuggle into my armchair with my laptop and dream about the Highlands of Scotland.
And it’s been another great year of reading. My favourites are listed on my Top 10 Reads Books 2008 page.
Hoping you all have a Merry Christmas!

A very exciting month as the adaptation of my German novel, Unter deinem Stern, was shown on SAT 1 as Himmlischer Besuch für Lisa. We’ve just been sent a copy on DVD and it’s lovely – really sweet and magical. I’m so proud to have inspired such a gorgeous film! It was even shown on the silver screen at the Biberach film festival in Germany and, as my husband and I made an appearance in it ourselves, I think we can now officially call ourselves movie stars!

Egmont Party
There was also the Egmont party at the London Transport Museum – a lively gathering of children’s writers and illustrators where we all got to behave like children for the evening – jumping on and off old buses and ancient trains.
We also went into hiding for a fortnight in beautiful Devon and Cornwall. Here’s a pic of me and Molly at the magical monument, Men an Tol in Penwith.

Men An Tol
And, at long last, I’ve finished writing my magical romance, The Curious Collection. Just editing it now and making sure it’s all in order, and then I’m going to get straight on with a new romantic comedy – more about that soon!

It’s been work, work, work this month – well, apart from a week away on the Isle of Wight where I met the lovely children’s writer, Diana Kimpton and artist, Alexander Slatter.
Really good progress has been made on my latest magical romance, The Curious Collection. I can see the finishing line in sight now. This one will need major rewrites, though, as it’s been written over the course of two to three years whilst I’ve had several projects on the go at once, and it feels very disjointed to me. Still, that should be fun to do.
And I got my first quote for my romantic comedy, Molly’s Millions, which is out in the UK next year. Lovely writer Judy Astley says: “Terrific. Molly’s Millions is like kiss chase for grown-ups!” Isn’t that fun?
Major excitement this month as I received the date of transmission for the film inspired by my novel, Flights of Angels (Unter deinem Stern). It’s to be shown on SAT 1 on 4th November at 8.15pm and is now called Himmlischer Besuch für Lisa and I can’t wait to see it!

There’s a special page for this month’s journal. Click here to read about our visit to the Unter deinem Stern film set. We had a fabulous time meeting the team that is turning my first novel into a film for television. I so enjoyed my first trip to Berlin, seeing everything from Checkpoint Charlie to beautiful Charlottenburg.

More exciting news on the film front this month – Flights of Angels (Unter deinem Stern) – started filming in Berlin and we’ve been invited to visit the set next month. This will be my first time on a film set and I can’t believe that it’s because of a story I wrote. I hope to have lots of pictures to share with you in next month’s journal!
I also have a children’s book out: Lucky Six – Breaking and Entering. Published by Egmont and written under the name, Becky Rainbird, it’s a fun adventure about six stage-school super sleuths.

This month also celebrated the publication of my friend, Giselle Green’s first novel, Pandora’s Box – a moving story about family, friendship, love and loss. Here’s a pic of us enjoying a sunny launch in her lovely garden.

This month, I went to the Oxford Literature Festival to hear children’s author David Almond speak. He was wonderful. He’d brought in some of his notebooks to show the audience how messy the writing process is for him and explained how he loved seeing the transformation into the neat lines of a published book.
It was also the London Book Fair and I went along to Earl’s Court to meet my lovely agents from Zurich and New York for the first time.
Unfortunately, it’s been a very mixed month on the writing front because two of the projects I started earlier in the year have been axed for one reason or another. But the good news is that I’ve begun a new project and this seems to have some staying power and I’m enjoying it very much! It’s the first in a new children’s series called Collingwood Castle about a young family who inherit a medieval castle in the north of England.
And, to make sure I don’t spend too much time at my desk, I took up Kickboxing and Karate this month. So, if the heroes and heroines in my children’s adventure stories get into a scrape, they will be able to execute a few neat moves!
On the movie front, I hear that Flights of Angels, (Unter deinem Stern) is going to be filmed in Berlin. Watch this space for more news soon …

Well, it’s BIG news this month. My first novel, Flights of Angels, (Unter deinem Stern) is going to be made into a TV movie by Ziegler Film! As you can imagine, I’m very excited and can’t wait to find out more. I think it’s every writer’s dream to see their story adapted and to see their characters come to life. Watch this space for more in the near future…
I’ve been getting back into my romantic novel, The Curious Collection, and it seems to be going well although I’m writing it in a very odd order. At the moment, I’m rather obsessed with a subplot involving my heroine’s sister and writing all of those scenes first. Oh, well, it seems to be working so I’m not going to question it!
