I’m delighted to see A Weekend with Mr Darcy and The Perfect Hero are the bestselling ebooks in Waterstone’s Romance chart this week. It’s so exciting to see them together and I hope that you all enjoy the third book too. Mr Darcy Forever has just been released on Kindle as an ebook exclusive.
I can’t tell you how much fun it was to write this trilogy and it means the world to me to see them doing so well especially this week as it is 200 years since Jane Austen’s first book was published. Happy Birthday, Sense and Sensibility!

It’s been an incredibly busy week and I’ve managed to spend a good deal of it away from the desk which is always a bit of a treat. On Tuesday, I met up with writer pal, Sam Mills, in Notting Hill where we had a bit of a location tour – finding the travel bookshop which inspired the one in the Richard Curtis film as well as posing outside the famous blue door which is now black and a bit scruffy!

Then, on Wednesday, I had the pleasure of attending Compassion in World Farming’s ‘Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards’ ceremony which took place at the ‘Temple’ in the Freemason’s Hall in London – an incredible room full of symbols straight out of a Dan Brown novel. And there was a wonderful moment when Ben and Jerry’s accepted their award and came in accompanied by a pantomime cow!

Finally, on Thursday night, it was the HarperCollins Summer Party which was held at the Orangery in Kensington Palace – a stunningly romantic venue. It’s always lovely to meet fellow authors and do a bit of star-spotting too and I was completely over the moon to meet a real Jane Austen hero – actor, Dan Stevens, who played Edward Ferrars in the recent Andrew Davies adaptation of Sense and Sensibility.

I’ve just returned from a wonderful Jane Austen weekend, staying at the fabulous house that was used in Emma Thompson’s adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. Overlooking an estuary and set in 5,000 acres of Devon countryside, it boasts its own beach and miles of glorious walks.

The footpaths and hedgerows were filled with bluebells, red campion, cow parsley and buttercups – the very same flowers which Willoughby picks for Marianne in the film!

It was a lovely experience to spend a weekend with fellow Janeites and, in return for sharing a sneak preview of my soon-to-be-published novel, A Weekend with Mr Darcy, they helped me with my research for the third book in my trilogy.
Here’s a photo of the track used in the film – the very one Colonel Brandon, John Willoughby and Edward Ferrars ride along. Unfortunately, no heroes on horseback made an appearance over the weekend but we consoled ourselves by watching the film again.
